Understanding the Intersection of Ethics and Self-Care

This Zoom Ethics Session will explain the concept of self-care by providing definitions for terms like burnout, compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatization. The session will demonstrate how self-care is an ethical practice and how not practicing good self-care principles can lead to unethical behavior. The session will provide practical self-care principles and practices that attendees can implement into their everyday work. 



Scott Breedlove, MS, CPS, CRPR, MARS

 

Scott Breedlove holds a Master of Science Degree in Addiction Studies from the University of South Dakota and has over 17 years of experience working with clients and serving in various roles including peer, counselor, supervisor, director and trainer. Scott currently serves as the President of Landmark Recovery of the Capital City.  Scott is a frequent recovery conference speaker across the nation including providing keynote sessions for the Iowa Governor’s Conference on Substance Use, the West Coast Problem Gambling Conference and the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association Conference.  Scott celebrated 30 years of personal long-term recovery in September 2022.  

Attending this session provides 1.5 Ethics CEUs. Certificates will be provided after confirmation of attendance.
